The admissions process for pre-school places in all settings in Northern Ireland is managed by the Education Authority.  On Wednesday 10th December 2025, the EA will publish information about the pre-school admissions procedure and admissions criteria for all providers on its website. (Scroll down to 'Read the Admissions Criteria' and then 'Search'). EA Connect, the online applications portal for admissions to pre-school in September 2026, will open from midday on Wednesday 7th January 2026 to midday on Wednesday 21st January 2026 to make applications.

Please note these key dates:

10th December 2025: Admissions Criteria published.

3rd January 2026: Magherafelt Integrated Nursery School Open Day.   

7th-21st January 2026: EA Connect open for online preschool applications at the EA website.

23rd March 2026: Notification of Stage 1 outcomes.

1st April 2026: Deadline for Stage 2 applications, additional preferences and new applications.

19th May 2026: Notification of Stage 2 outcomes.

Target Age for entry in September 2026: Born 2 July 2022 - 1 July 2023

Underage for entry in September 2026: Born 2 July 2023 - 1 July 2024
